About This Project

The Argo Reader showcases the world’s finest works of sailing art, literature, and photography. This website is the digital companion to a beautiful 4-color print edition, ARGO magazine, launched in the fall of 2024.
Fill your sails with the words and images of writers, artists, and photographers who best capture the spirit of life in the wind. From the nautical paintings of Winslow Homer and seascapes of J.M.W. Turner to the sailing ruminations of literary giants like E.B White and Jack London, The Argo Reader and its 100-page print publication, ARGO, feature captivating works of nautical art and literature that explore the realm of sailors and their ships, both past and present.
With the world’s maritime heritage as our compass, we invite today’s storytellers and image makers to submit original works that illuminate their passion for sailing. From celebrated novelists to unknown sea dogs, from dinghy sailors to circumnavigators, we ask only one thing of the words and images we select for publication:
Set sail—and take us with you!
